Virginia ENERGY STAR Sales Tax Holiday Set for October 10-13

The City of Alexandria invites residents to take advantage of the second annual ENERGY STAR Sales Tax Holiday, scheduled for October 10-13. During the four-day sales tax holiday, Virginians will be exempt from paying the state and local sales tax (amounting to a savings of approximately 5%) on qualified products costing $2,500 or less. This year, in addition to ENERGY STAR products, Virginians can also benefit from savings on water-efficient products marketed with the EPA’s WaterSense label. Qualified ENERGY STAR and WaterSense products include the following:

  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
  • Ceiling fans
  • Clothes washers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Dishwashers
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Refrigerators
  • Air conditioners
  • High-efficiency toilets
  • Bathroom sink faucets

For more information about the sales tax holiday or the Eco-City Alexandria Initiative, please call the City’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services at 703.838.4334. www.alexandriava.gov
