Keep Hydrants Clear of Snow

Clearing snow from fire hydrants can be a life-saving maneuver. However, if you are physically unable to clear the snow yourself, you can still help by purchasing a marking stick to place in the snow next to the hydrant on your street. This gives both the fire department and the Service Authority the exact location of the hydrant during a weather emergency. Marking sticks are approximately 54" tall and can be purchased at your local hardware store.
