Exercising valves in the water distribution system tells the Service Authority both the location and condition of the more than 24,000 valves across our service area. Each year, the Service Authority exercises more than 4,000 valves, an important preventative maintenance measure that can pinpoint small issues before they could become big problems during a water main break.
