The Prince William County Service Authority is seeking participants for its third annual Model Water Tower Competition on Saturday, November 2. This fun and educational event provides Prince William County middle school students the opportunity to test their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills and earn prizes for building functional model water towers.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the three top-scoring individuals or teams. Entries will be rated on structural, hydraulic and cost efficiency as well as design ingenuity. Click here for detailed instructions and criteria.

The deadline to register for the Model Water Tower Competition is Friday, October 18. The first 25 individuals and teams will automatically be entered into the contest. The competition is open to public, private and home school students in a grade 5 SIGNET program or in grades 6 through 8 in Prince William County. To register, please click here.

Students have until the November 2 competition day to design and build their model water towers. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Prince William County Service Authority, located at 4 County Complex Court in Woodbridge. Participants will submit their entries for demonstration and scoring by judges from the Service Authority and the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association.

The Service Authority will provide the required connectors for the model water towers in an effort to minimize costs for participants. Email outreach@pwcsa.org for more information.
