Water Academy

The Service Authority invites you to join its award-winning Water Academy where participants get a behind-the-scenes look at their water and wastewater utility and learn about local water resources.

The free, four-session 2020 Water Academy begins on Wednesday, June 17, and is open to adults and high school seniors. Those who are interested in learning about the science and technology behind water and wastewater treatment, touring Service Authority facilities, learning about career and internship opportunities and understanding their individual role in environmental stewardship are strongly encouraged to apply for enrollment in the Water Academy. It is an active, engaging and hands-on program held on four Wednesdays in June and July from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the H.L. Mooney Advanced Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF) and the Raymond Spittle Building in Woodbridge, VA.

Previous Water Academy participants have included teachers, engineers, scientists, environmental professionals, homeowners’ association members, community volunteers and retirees. Prince William County school teachers who complete the course may be eligible for Continuing Education Credits.

The goal of the Water Academy is to foster understanding and appreciation for the many ways the Service Authority contributes to community health, environmental stewardship, and economic vitality in Prince William County. A graduation ceremony will be held for those who successfully complete all four sessions of the course.
